Nepal Honey Hunting Tour Program

Nepal Honey Hunting Tour Program

Extracting honey from rock bees that live in steep slope is an age-old tradition of some of the indigenous Nepali communities like Gurungs and Magars. While the honey hunting as a profession is slowly fading out, it stills retains its traditional glory with a meticulous ritual followed during each honey hunting event. Each area has its own distinctive style of honey hunting to suit local resources and bees. The basic method of lighting fire under the bee cliffs to smoke the bees from the combs appears to be universal. However, socio-cultural and spiritual practices carried out prior to hunting honey are quite different from community to community. If you wish to participate to any of the following two Makalu Adventure honey hunting tour programs, then please let us know which area holds interest for you so we that we can customize the itinerary accordingly.
