Meals

Considering the remoteness of the area the range of meals available during the this trek is unbelievable- ranging from pizza to apple pie. The whole route is dotted with standard hotel and basic teahouses with their restaurant providing a wide range of menu which includes typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisines as well as all types of international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). On the trail we often come across highly standard bakeries and cafes providing excellent service to the visitors.

During this trip meals on full board basis will be provided at the lodges, guesthouse / teahouses.  Most lodges offer similar menus - oatmeal, hash browns, omelettes, dal bhat, spaghetti, fried rice, apple pie, etc. - though those in Namche tend to have a wider selection, which includes such things as pizza and juice. Bakeries, which were originally a Namche phenomenon, but now also operate in Khumjung and Tengboche, offer such luxuries as freshly baked pizza, German breads, pastries and even cappuccino - or as one lodge in Monju advertised: Sherpaccino!
Trek lunch is provided at the teashop in a pleasant surrounding over lunch break whilst the dinner and the breakfast are provided at lodges where we stay overnight. In case of a camping trek, we will have a special kitchen team/ staff dispatched who will prepare the meal for the visitors

Riki-Kur - the Sherpa dish of potato pancakes, which are delicious eaten straight off the griddle and covered with dzo (female yak) butter and a sauce made of mature cheese and spices called sorma. Due to the effort involved in making them, they are generally not listed on lodge menus. However, most places will oblige if you order well in advance.
